Date #4: Omaha
Updated: Dec 17
We finished off the orthopedic surgeon, which seemed like not that long ago. (But it happened like a year ago) I took some time off but was still actively on Tinder and Hinge. You could say I was a little more particular on my first dates from now on. Now let me introduce you to Omaha. Nickname since he lived in Omaha, NE. Cute guy, very tall and I would say very goal oriented. I’m pretty sure he wanted to work for his dad or something. I forgot his major but wouldn’t be surprised if it was business. He used to be in frat but left since he lost interest. Once we matched on Tinder as one does, we settled on a nearby sushi restaurant nearby. I was kind of worried since we’re located in EUGENE OREGON, so you could say I was kind of suspicious. There is one sushi place nearby that’s actually pretty good though and no we didn’t go to that one…
The date was on a weekday. I wore blue jeans and this new white top I wore from Zara. He picked me up from an apartment nearby (didn’t want him to know where I lived, and my old roommate followed us to the restaurant). KIDNAPPING IS REAL PEOPLE. We figured out parking and grabbed a seat inside. It was pretty much us and a few other students in there. I order a veggie sushi roll, to be on the safe side. He judged me on my order though. “I thought you were a sushi fan”, he said. “I am but I’m not a food poisoning fan”, I thought, but out loud I laughed and smiled. We made nice conversation, but all good things come to an end. HE KEPT TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF. Like a lot. Stories on top of stories. I don’t think he asked more than 5 questions. And your probably wondering, “Janae, isn’t your life goal to have your own talk show?” Yes, yes, it is and that’s why I need a shy nerd who is extremely smart and has a niche hobby like surfing or collecting trains. Don’t laugh at me, I know you want the same thing. I mean it felt like forever until he asked me a question, then when he agreed he went right back to talking about himself. I felt somewhat bad, because I didn’t think he knew how much he was talking, maybe he was nervous. The date lasted for about an hour, but seriously it felt like two. He paid for the check and then we walked out to the car. As he started the car, the conversation of the hiking (my worst nightmare) was brought up. If you know me, my family and I are very outdoors. I grew up fishing in Idaho, camping Arizona. My dad hunts in Montana for Christ’s sake!
“Do you hike?”.
“No, but I walk”, I said with a laugh. “Would you want to go up Spencer Butte this weekend?”
“Sure!.”, it was weird once I agreed, every bone in my body ached with dread. I liked him enough to go on a second date, I don’t think I liked him enough to go on a hike with him. But you know I needed content for you guys, and I definitely needed to exercise. So that weekend I was going on hike with Omaha.
