JANAE'S THIRTY FLIRTY DATES

Janae McIntosh

Date #1: 5'7

Updated: Dec 17

The first ever date I went on was a guy who did college tours at my school. I named him 5'7. I'm 5'8, you do the math. Not my greatest match but it was my first, so don't judge too much. I wore blue jeans, a brown bodysuit, vintage Harley Davidson jackey and NO platform shoes (already knew). Didn't text much, but made reservations for Axe-throwing. I was excited, because I heard the best dates are the ones where you do an activity instead of sitting down and talking.

Now, I don't think that is true. He picked me up from my apartment, car was clean and smelled good (green flag). Very hansome in the face, almost model-like. Cute smile too. Made great convsersation and found out he was a gymnast, honestly fitting if you saw his build. I was a little rusty with my flirting but it was passable. After a few rounds of axe-throwing, we grabbed ice cream from Handels. We sat talked for about an hour, even though it was freezing outside. I forgot if he held to the door for me, but he did pay for everything As we a had conversation on the brisk night of January, I really admired his face, his amazing attributes but alas he was 5'7 and I couldn't date a guy who looked like a little boy I was babysitting. Rought times for the tall girls. 5'7 drove me back to my apartment, but we sat talked a little longer and a had a few laughs. But nothing was memorable, I saw him more of a friend and as the same time he seemed to feel the same. Texted him thank you for the date and haven't talked to him since.

The Lesson HERE:

1. You don't need to do an activity with someone in order to have a great conversation and not make it awkard. Your confidence will help with that.

2. IF YOU DON'T THINK HE IS TALL ENOUGH, HE PROBABLY ISN'T!

3. It's ok if the spark isn't there. Regain balance, see if he is still interested, if he is and he still pursues, I'd say go for it and if not, step back and look for someone else.
